Today I decided to write about camels because tomorrow we are going to ride camels in the Sahara Desert!

A camel is an even toed ungulate and has a hump on its back to store fat which is later converted to food and water. There are three types of camels. A camel with one hump is a dromedary, which makes up 94% of the population of camels, and the rest are the two humped camels and bactrians. The taxonomic classification of a dromedary is:
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Artiodactyla
Families: Camelidae
Genus: Camelus
Species: Dromedary
Other members of Camelidae are the llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, guanacos, and Bactrian camels.

The word camel comes from the Arabic word ğml which means: ”Don’t ever try to say a camel is ugly!” Camels need to stay hydrated in the desert, so they can drink up to 53 gallons of water in three minutes! Surprisingly, camels will spit at you if they feel threatened. Camels might seem slow but they can run up to 40mph. A camel can usually live up to forty years. Camels have three eyelids and two sets of eyelashes. They also have nostrils that can open and close to keep sand out. Camels can also eat thorns and other things without damaging their mouths. Winning racing camels can cost up to $30 million!

I am also writing about our last day in Fez.

On our last day we took a $3 taxi to a ceramic shop that crafts their ceramics out of clay. They first shape the clay into a tile, a bowl, a plate, or anything else. Then they put it in the oven. I learned that they put the pottery in the oven over 1000 degrees celsius for 8 hours! Then they paint it from detailed swirls to a couple circles. I found it fun and satisfying to watch them paint the pottery. Then we arrived at the store. We waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, waited, and waited for Janet and Alex to decide if they wanted to buy some tiles. They didn’t buy any but they are wondering if they want to buy any later.
