Learning and growing as we go

Places

The map below by Julien shows our year of worldschooling.

Our vision was to spend about three months in each of four continents: Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas (North & South America). We had a rough idea of where we wanted to go, but booked flights approximately three months in advance of wherever we were going. Some places we decided on before we left (Spain, Morocco, Italy, France Germany, Tanzania, Thailand, and Colombia), whereas others we decided upon only after we were already underway (Switzerland, Dubai, India, Cambodia, Indonesia, China, Japan, Peru, and the Eastern United States).

We ended up going to 19 countries (or 21 countries, if you count the Vatican and Hong Kong as separate from Italy and China).

  • We spent more than three weeks in each of six countries: Tanzania (64 days), Spain (60 days), Indonesia (40 days), the United States (35 days), Colombia (23 days), and Thailand (23 days).
  • On the other end of the spectrum, there were just three countries we spent less than a week in: Switzerland (3 days), Germany (4 days), UAE (6 days).
  • We spent between 1-3 weeks in each of the remaining 10 countries (Mexico, United Kingdom, Morocco, Italy, France, India, Cambodia, China, Japan, Peru).

Our chronological itinerary (including travel days) in each country was as follows:
